Wishing you happy accountability Lisa. Myself, I've let go of that around my art practice. I am practicing "being". So far, so good.

Hey, Lisa, thanks for reposting the piece. I just stumbled on your blog while trying to get into The Nervous Breakdown (how the one led to the second I won't explain), which is down at the moment. But I'm honored by what you say. I began the piece as a way of working out, through humor, some of my recent frustrations, in case that isn't clear, as I think it is; and I certainly intended to poke of myself as much, as if not more so, than anyone else. I saw that you left a comment at TNB, too, and I'll respond there -- if I'm ever able.

I would never stop working if the work was going well and I had the luxury/opportunity to keep at it. Stopping is like waking a sleeping baby to feed her. Its simply not done! You may be on the verge of getting somewhere(a realization,an inspiration, a conclusion) that requires x amt. of hours beforehand. It might not happen in shorter increments.

Keep working. That is so very true. I find that if I just show up - put my hands on my tools, shuffle them around bit - I will get going. I start with the piece I like the least - so there is nothing to loose - I can only go up!Thanks Lisa!

The same thing happens for visual artists, myself included. If we follow enough rules, make what we do look just like things that have already been done what do we have? The “bland oatmeal” of art. Acceptable, usual and customary! What art makes us take a big breath and look in wonder? Art that grabs us – its well done, unique and it plays with us.

Yahoo, Lisa! I both applaud you and am inspired by your words ... (and what more could a writer wish for than to receive accolades and to know that their art is of benefit to others?) I love the concept of flexing our artistic muscles and not stopping ourselves because we're "not there yet." When you put it that way, it's a bit of a "duh" moment. Of course, we are meant to keep moving, and dreaming, and doing, and to keep evolving ... all of which involves action. Thank you for the richness of your words and wisdom. Diana
